|
Current
planning status: - No current
minerals or waste planning permission at the site.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
lies adjacent and near to the three sites that comprise the Leziate, Sugar and Derby Fens SSSI, lies
600m east and south of Roydon Common SSSI/SAC and Ramsar site and lies about
700m north of Bawsey SSSI. The
southern (and major) part of the site comprises undulating arable landscape
with an open and 'heathy' character.
The northern part is under coniferous woodland with a broadleaf
edge. The proposed site lies between
larger areas of woodland to the north and south and a substantial area of
restored mineral workings at Bawsey to the south. A public bridleway, Leziate RB 12, runs through the southern
corner of the site. The allocation
would have potential to affect protected species or their habitats (refer to
list in the evidence base of species identified).
|
Highways: - The southern boundary of the site
adjoins the B1145, Gayton Road, a Main Distributor route.
|
Archaeology:
- The site includes a
scheduled burial mound which is nationally important, and the Bawsey tile
kilns which, though not scheduled, are of international importance.

Current
planning status: - No
current minerals or waste planning permission on this site.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
lies within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The site comprises open arable land, the
western part of the site forms the top of the undulating plateau whereas the
eastern part slopes downwards towards the east. A small copse of trees lies within the eastern part of the
site. The general area comprising
arable and larger blocks of woodland up on the plateau and open rolling
arable farmland with smaller areas of wood on the more undulating land to the
east. The allocation would have
potential to affect protected species or their habitats (refer to list in the
evidence base of species identified).
|
Highways: - The site is near to the C99, Whiteway
Road, a Local Access route, to the north and the undesignated C90, Ringstead
Road, to the south. It is about 2.8km
via Whiteway Road to the B1155 Docking Road a Main Distributor route and
about 2.4km via Ringstead Road to the same junction on the B1155.

Area of search
|
|
Current
planning status: - No
current minerals or waste planning permission on this site. The site lies adjacent to a former quarry
with planning permission for carstone extraction.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
is adjacent to Roydon Common SSSI, SAC and Ramsar site. It is also adjacent to and overlaps
Grimston Warren Pit geological SSSI.
The site is less than 1km from the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty (AONB). The site
comprises a large sinuous shaped area of undulating arable farmland. Much of the north part of the proposed
site has been set a side. The site
lies between larger areas of woodland to the south east and a substantial
area of heath at Roydon Common to the east.
A public footpath, Castle Rising FP16, crosses the northern part of
the site and a public footpath, Grimston FP1, crosses the southern part of
the site. The allocation would have potential to affect protected species or
their habitats and Biodiversity Action Plan Species or their habitats (refer
to list in the evidence base of species identified).
|
Highways: - The site is adjacent to the A149, Queen
Elizabeth Way, a Principal route. Access from the A149 is via the U22122,
Sandy Lane, a Soft road, which passes through the site.
|
Archaeology:
- The area of search
includes a listed building, Warren Farm, which is on national importance.
Clarification is required regarding whether this building would be
retained. In addition, due to
important archaeological remains on the site of national/regional importance,
an investigation would be required before planning permission could be
granted.

Current

current mineral or waste planning permission at this site. The site lies immediately to the east of
an active quarry with planning permission for carstone extraction and inert
landfill.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
lies about 1.5km north east of the Blackborough End geological SSSI. It comprises gently sloping agricultural
land forming part of the plateau above the River Nar. The site is bounded by farmland to the
east and an extensive area of mineral and waste workings to the west and
south. A planting shelter belt bounds
the site to the north and beyond that further farmland. The allocation would have potential to
affect Biodiversity Action Plan species and their habitats (refer to list in
the evidence base).
|
Highways: - The site adjoins the C57, East Winch
Road, a HGV Access route. The site
proposals indicate that the site will use internal haul routes within the
adjacent quarry to the site access point onto East Winch Road.
|
Archaeology:
- No archaeological
constraint known at present.
|
|
Additional
Information submitted: -
The site is also submitted as a waste allocation (WAS 25). It is proposed that the site is worked as
an extension of an existing quarry and that following reinstatement 'slightly
above original levels', the after use of the site 'will be specifically aimed
at improving biodiversity'.

lies about 1.2km east of the Blackborough End SSSI, designated for its
geological value. It comprises a
paddock to the south and west of the Farm with a high hedge along the western
boundary with a large oak tree to the south and another hedge along the
eastern boundary. The site lies on a
wider area of well wooded undulating plateau land above the River Nar. The allocation is unlikely to affect
Biodiversity Action Plan species or their habitats.
|
Highways: - The site proposals indicate that
internal haul routes will be used to transport material into the existing
East Winch / Middleton Quarry. The material will join the highway network via
the existing access onto the C57, East Winch Road, a HGV Access route.

Area of search
|
|
Current
planning status: - A
small area in the middle of the site is permitted for building sand
extraction. The site is located in an
area of mineral and waste operations.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
lies immediately east Blackborough End SSSI, designated for its geological
value. It comprises an existing
Carstone Quarry. This was worked for
many years under an old permission and the restored site is steep sided with
a fairly flat quarry floor. It lies
within an area of Blackborough End which has been extensively affected by
mineral working and waste disposal operations. Existing and restored mineral workings lie to the north, west
and south of this area. A major
landfill operation lies to the east.
The allocation would have potential to affect protected species or
their habitats (refer to list in the evidence base of species identified).
|
Highways: - The site is located on the C822, Mill
Drove, a HGV Access route.
|
Archaeology:
-Some archaeological
investigation work needed, which could be required by a condition to planning
consent.
|
|
Additional
Information submitted: -
The site has also been submitted as a waste allocation (WAS 41).

Current
planning status: - No
current mineral extraction or waste planning permission on the site. The site lies adjacent to an active pit
with planning permission for sand and gravel extraction.
|
Landscape
and Ecology: - The site
lies about 1.5km north east of the Blackborough End SSSI, designated for its
geological value. It is within the River Nar floodplain which is occupied by
a sand and gravel processing plant and ancillary buildings to the north and
rough grassland to the south. The
site lies within the floodplain of the River Nar. It is bounded by farmland to the east and an extensive area of
sand and gravel extraction to the west, A block of Woodland, West Bilney
Warren, lies to the north of the proposed area. The allocation is unlikely to
affect protected species or their habitats but would have the potential to
affect Biodiversity Action Plan Species or their habitats (refer to list in
the evidence base of species identified).
|
Highways: - The site is accessed from the C65,
Common Road, a HGV Access route.
|
Archaeology:
- Some archaeological
investigation work needed, which could be required by a condition to planning
